I've always had a mild fascination with fashion. I have always been enchanted by the way fabrics drape, the way a designer sculpts a garment to reconfigure images of conventional body shapes and more importantly how the eye takes in what it sees and consequently how the mind processes this into what is beautiful.. and in some cases what is not.
Though finding the right outfit can be a delight for the senses, finding shoes can be torturously numbing... that is if you have a shoe size that reaches the double-digit end of the scale (Australian sizing). If that isn't enough, it seems as if each brand has their own standard of sizing [much like a lot of clothing brands] making the process unnecessarily difficult.
Having now gained access to at least 500 pairs of shoes in my size, it is a complete God send.. if only God would also send the funds to back up the new found addiction. Now I'm finding a darker side to the elusive Ruby Slipper I was once after. And it has me thinking that sometimes what is handed to you as a Ruby may in fact be a Blood Diamond.
